Peter Darling has a wealth of experience in farming and lifestyle block management. Born and raised on a sheep and beef property in South Canterbury, His love of rural life began at an early age and continues today on his 48 ha property near Tai Tapu.
Peter’s passion for farming was apparent from his teenage years when he quickly earned respect within the industry by excelling in many Canterbury and South Island stock judging competitions and representing Aorangi and Canterbury at the National Champs. Before long these stock judging skills, combined with his reputation as a top sheep stud breeder saw him being invited to judge at many shows around the South Island.
After qualifying with diplomas in Agriculture and Farm Management from Lincoln University and working on a cropping farm during his holidays, Peter purchased his first 222ha farm from his parents, along with 280 Coopworth Stud ewes.
Over the years, Peter successfully grew the property to 749 ha (8500 stock units), including the Coryston Sheep Stud to 2500 ewes across 5 breeds.

Long standing involvement and memberships with Young Farmers , NZ Sheep Breeders Association, Federated Farmers, farm discussion groups, and chairing the Cannington Motukaika Water Scheme complement Peter's vast knowledge and specialist experience in breeding and stock and pasture management. A highlight was being selected to travel to America in 2012 with Lean Meats to assist in promoting New Zealand lamb.
